Andrew Sykes, Co-Founder, Actuarial and Behavior-Modification Advisor and Board Director Andrew is the Founder and Chairman of Health at Work Wellness Actuaries, where his team works with organizations to specify and implement highly successful wellness programs. He has started and run successful companies in the US, South Africa and Brazil, and is a qualified actuary, an HIAA managed health professional, and a licensed health insurance broker.
He is a highly sought after speaker, especially on the topic of consumer-directed healthcare and wellness, and has spoken at more than 500 public & private events. He has worked on five continents in healthcare, having started and run NMG Consultants and Actuaries for 15 years and has consulted with some of the world’s largest companies, including WAWA Inc., Shell Oil, McDonald’s, Nokia, Unilever, BHP Billiton, SAB Miller, Anglo American, British Aerospace, MAPFRE, Blue Cross Blue Shield and many others. He works with school districts, health insurers, banks and many other organizations committed to improving health in America.
Previously, Mr. Sykes served as the Chief Wellness Officer for The Vitality Group before starting Health At Work.
Mr. Sykes created the Behavioral Research Applied Technology Laboratory (BRATLAB) to address the singular question: How do you get people to create new habits and leave them thrilled with the experience? Mr. Sykes is an iconoclastic expert on multiple topics, including the mathematics of wellness; the design and implementation of measurable and effective wellness programs that link to clients’ vision and strategy; the science of behavior change; the creation and deployment of wellness engagement plans; the creation and deployment of the tools and techniques that employers can use to drive high and sustained participation in their wellness programs; and the art of communicating health care policy changes.
Mr. Sykes’s received a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries, a Health Insurance Associate and Managed Health Professional (HIAA), and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries of America.
